【ボーダレス時代の異文化共生住宅･･･ゲストハウスとは #4】外国人ゲストハウス「人生いろいろ、言葉も文化もいろいろ」

若き学生時代に急遽海外放浪の旅に踏み出し、その経験から外国人賃貸業界に深い興味を抱くようになったのが、イチイ社長・荻野氏です。このコラムでは、そんな荻野の体験をコラム形式でお届けします。

第4回目の「ボーダレス時代の異文化共生住宅・・・ゲストハウスとは」では、ゲストハウスに住む外国人入居者のユーモアある生活を綴ります。

人生いろいろ、言葉も文化もいろいろ

「男子は食堂のイスとテーブルを屋上に運んでください。女子は飲み物と軽食の準備をお願いします」
と、マネージャーから日本語と英語での館内放送があった。今日は待ちに待った松戸の花火大会。
江戸川河川敷から打ち上げられる８０００発もの色とりどりの花火は、夜空を大迫力のパノラマと化する。このゲストハウスはそれを間近に楽しむ事が出来るロケーション。そこで日本人住人とマネージャーが、外国人住人にこのゲストハウスの想い出にしてもらおうと企画し、始まった毎年恒例のイベントである。

「今日はいったい何人集まるのかな」「ここの住人が全員で１６０人だから、半分が参加して８０人位かな」「いや、友達や近所の人達も来るから１００人は超えると思うよ」。
そんなやり取りをしながらイベントの準備が進められた。

ゲストハウスに入ると、浴衣や民族衣装を着た住人そして関係者が「こんにちは」「ハロー」「称好」と挨拶をしながら、会場である屋上に小走りに上がって行く。
リビングでは、「ハイ！ハロー」とアフリカから来ている自称日本文化研究家のトムが、短めの浴衣を得意そうに着て出迎えてくれた。花火が始まるのに間があったので、彼の部屋を覗くことにした。天井からは提灯がぶらさがり、部屋の真ん中にはコタツが置かれていた。コタツの前に座ると、「何がいいですか？」と彼は飲み物のメニューを出してきたが、そこには抹茶、ほうじ茶、緑茶、煎茶と、なんと20種以上のお茶が。これには驚いた。

「ドカーン、ドカーン」と凄い音、そして「Oh！」「好漂亮」「ワンダフル」の歓声。
あちこちで「あんなの私の国では見たことない」「あれは何という花火ですか」「あれは風景や火文字などを描く、アイデア花火だよ」と会話が弾む。

このゲストハウスには常時20ケ国以上の人が住んでおり、いろいろな言語そして文化の交流がある。この日は特にボーダレスな世界を感じた1日だった。

Column 4: Life is diverse, and so are language and culture.

An announcement in Japanese and English came from the manager: “Gentlemen, please bring the chairs and tables from the cafeteria to the rooftop. Ladies, please prepare drinks and light snacks.” Today is the long-awaited Matsudo Fireworks Festival.
The sky is transformed into a powerful panorama by the display of 8,000 colorful fireworks launched from the Edogawa riverside. This guesthouse has a location that allows you to enjoy it up close. The Japanese residents and the manager planned to make this event a cherished memory for the foreign residents, and thus began the annual tradition.
“I wonder how many people will gather today.” “There are about 160 residents here, so maybe around 80 will participate.” “No, friends and neighbors will also come, so I think it will exceed 100.” As preparations for the event progressed, such exchanges took place.
Upon entering the guesthouse, residents and staff dressed in yukatas and ethnic costumes greet each other with “Konnichiwa,” “Hello,” and “Xing Hao.” They swiftly make their way up to the rooftop, which serves as the venue.
In the living room, Tom, a self-proclaimed Japanese culture researcher from Africa, greets us with a short yukata, saying “Hi! Hello!” Since there was some time before the fireworks started, we decided to peek into his room. Lanterns hung from the ceiling, and a kotatsu was placed in the middle of the room. As I sat in front of the kotatsu, he handed me a menu of drinks, and to my surprise, there were more than 20 types of tea, including matcha, hojicha, green tea, and sencha. It was astonishing.
“Boom, boom” goes the tremendous sound, followed by exclamations of “Oh!” and “How beautiful!” Conversations flourish, with remarks like “I’ve never seen anything like that in my country,” and “What kind of fireworks are those?” People engage in discussions about fireworks that depict landscapes and kanji characters, known as idea fireworks.
This guesthouse is home to residents from over 20 countries at all times, fostering a diverse exchange of languages and cultures. This day was particularly a celebration of a borderless world.

第四回 人生多彩，语言和文化多样

从经理那里传来了日语和英语的室内广播：“请男生将餐厅的椅子和桌子搬到屋顶。女生请准备饮料和小吃。” 今天是令人期待已久的松户花火大会。
从江户川河川敷升起的8000发五彩缤纷的烟花将夜空变成壮丽的全景。这个旅馆的位置可以近距离欣赏到这一壮观景象。因此，日本居民和经理计划让外国居民将这个旅馆成为他们的回忆，开始了每年一度的活动。
“今天究竟有多少人会聚集呢？” “这里的居民总共有160人，所以大约会有80人左右参加吧。” “不，还有朋友和邻居也会来，我觉得会超过100人。” 在这样的交流中，活动的准备进行得如火如荼。
一进入旅馆，穿着浴衣和民族服装的居民和工作人员互相问候着“你好”、“Hello”和“称好”，快步走向屋顶的会场。
在客厅里，“嗨！你好！”来自非洲的自称日本文化研究家汤姆，穿着一件短浴衣熟练地迎接我们。因为烟花还没有开始，所以我们决定偷看他的房间。灯笼从天花板上垂下，房间中央放着一张炬燵。坐在炬燵前，他拿出饮料菜单问道：“想喝点什么？”但菜单上有抹茶、焙茶、绿茶、煎茶等，竟然有20多种茶。这让我感到惊讶。
“咚咚”传来巨大的声响，然后是“哦！”、“好漂亮！”和“太棒了！”的欢呼声。到处都有人说着：“我在我的国家从未见过那样的东西。”、“那是什么样的烟花？”、“那是绘制风景和火字的创意烟花。”人们的对话生动有趣。
这个旅馆常住着来自20多个国家的人，不同语言和文化之间的交流丰富多彩。这一天特别让人感受到了无国界的世界。
